![]() Priority Region: Southwest Crescent
Staff contacts: The Southwest Crescent is a landscape of interconnected wildlands stretching from northern Utah to the Mexican border in Arizona and New Mexico. It extends from the montane forests of northeast Utah southward along the eastern Wasatch spine to the Kaibab Plateau and Grand Canyon ecosystem then arcing southeast through the Blue Mountains of Arizona to the Gila Wilderness and south along the Peloncillos to the Mexican border. The Southwest Crescent functions as large carnivore habitat and an important link between the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and the Sierra Madre Occidental in Mexico. In conjunction with the Yellowstone to Yukon corridor, conservation in this region could reestablish metapopulations of large carnivores stretching from the Arctic to Mexico. Wilburforce concentrates its grants on conservation efforts in two focal areas:
We partner with organizations working towards achieving the following goals in the Southwest Crescent Priority Region:
We are supporting the following organizations for work in this area. When you click on an organization name you will see a list of all grants made to that organization, which may include projects funded in other program areas. (Organizations receiving science-related grants are not included in this list. Please see our Conservation Science section for those grants.)
